Confirmation

THE CONFIRMATION of seven of our young people and two adults took place recently in Chelmsford. These nine persons have been attending preparation classes for this very important event in their Christian lives.

What is confirmation?

‘Confirmation marks the point in the Christian journey at which you affirm for yourself the faith into which you have been baptized and your intention to live a life of committed discipleship’. This affirmation is confirmed through prayer and the laying on of hands by the confirming bishop. In this case the Bishop of Chelmsford.

The church was full to bursting and the service was moving and powerful. The Bishop spoke of how God had a purpose for our lives—how ‘in Christ’ you can become the person you are meant to be. It was a down to earth talk of how we are seduced into thinking we have to be young, slimmer, designer clad etc. He added that the Saints in Heaven would now be giving it some welly as the twenty three candidates made their promises to God!

To listen to the Bishop visit  www.holytrinityspringfield.org.uk/ and follow the link Sermons and September.

Our candidates (some of  whom are pictured below with the Rector and Bishop ) include Jasper Goodall, Debbie and Tom Grafton, Emma Waters, Will Evans,Rebecca Stead, Katherine Sykes, Phoebe Walden and Frazer Emmett. We welcome them all into full membership of the Church.
