Music for a Summer’s Afternoon

MUSIC FOR A SUMMERS AFTERNOON

The concert  was a great treat for all those who came. The theme was Best of British and in the repertoire  was a wonderful selection of ‘British’ tunes, both sung and played. There were songs for fun like Teddy Bears Picnic and English Country gardens  and Those Lazy Hazy Days of Summer sung in great harmony by the choir, and solo instrumental pieces from Joe, David and Tim. Greg and Janis joined with Tim and produced some fine music.  The children sang four songs for us with actions, which were well applauded and for some culture we heard visitors Claire singing jazz and   Edward on the piano.

I’m H.a.p.p.y.

Greg and a few others have learned the Ukele and a great fun time was had when they donned hats and struck some numbers with a recorder.

Having a British theme we all sang Jerusalem and everyone joined in the Sailor’s Hornpipe, Last-Night-at-the-Proms Style complete with hooter.!                   We finished with the choir singing The Irish Blessing which was a fitting conclusion to a lovely afternoon’s concert.   We must thank Greg and the choir for all their hard work and also Elisabeth who accompanied much of the singing.

The sun was shining warmly in the churchyard and we spilled outside with the lovely tea that was provided for us.
