We took along our Button Banners which are nearly finished and the BBC clip with Jeremy Paxman and the slides of the men from Gt & Lt Leighs who died for our freedom. There was a large display of the home front with articles and village scenes of the time and The Western Front Association had a large dis[lay of weapons and uniforms and badges etc. Terry brought along a beautiful display of postcards including many silk Christmas and birthday cards. Copies of Andrew Clark’s Diary were available to buy and the village choir sang songs of the era.
People had been encouraged to bring along their own memorabilia and display it and much discussion took place as people found common interests. All in all it was a good friendly occasion.
