During 2014, the centenary year of the start of the Great War, the villagers of Great & Little Leighs & Little Waltham have been making three banners.
The village club and church members were approached to sew a button on a banner in memory of a fallen soldier, perhaps a family member, a name from our war memorials or just for an unknown soldier who died for our country.
One banner is a Union Flag and the other two depict a scene of the war-torn countryside, with sun rays, sea, fields, mud and shed blood.
These banners are now completed and on Remembrance Sunday 2014 they will be blessed and hung in the churches for all to see and remember
